The Fortum heat and power plant in Klaipėda has been built using Peikko's flooring solutions and punching prevention systems.

The combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Klaipėda uses non-hazardous municipal and industrial waste as fuel and is the first power plant of its kind in Lithuania. 250,000 tons of waste and biofuel can be incinerated annually in the plant’s boiler; the energy efficiency being almost 90%. Additional thermal power generation capacity (14 MW) comes during the winter period from a flue gas condenser.

The new power plant plays a significant role in the waste management chain. Fortum Klaipeda plant helps to solve the waste management problem in the region of Klaipeda and to reduce the amount of waste deposited in landfills. Klaipeda Heat and power plant, fueled with municipal and non-hazardous industrial waste, biofuels and produces heat supplied to the city of Klaipeda. Power plant produces about 40% of the heat required by the city of Klaipeda, as well as electricity sold to the national networks.

CHPP in Klaipėda uses the most modern technologies ensuring the maximum efficiency of fuel consumption and efficient cleaning of the exhaust gases. The capacity of the power plant is 50 MW of heat and 20 MW of electricity.
